Here at Cartridge Plus we understand how stressful buying a new printer can be, Cartridge Plus will only  sell or recommend a Printer that is economical to run and suitable for the customers needs, unlike large retailers who will “recommend” printers according to meet their monthly sales targets. Below are the main questions you should ask before

Buying a New Printer? Here’s our Advice:

How much do the cartridges cost to replace?

Most printer manufacturers make their money on the cartridges and not the printers, so what you thought was a good deal on your printer could end up costing you dearly each time you run out of ink.

Can the cartridges be refilled?

This is the most important question to ask if you want to save a lot of money, if you are not sure just contact us with the printer model and we will be happy to advise.

What volume of ink is in the cartridges, does the printer come with a full or starter set of cartridges?

Some printers will come with what is know as a “starter set of cartridges” meaning the cartridges are only half full and so the customer has to purchase new cartridges quicker. Always check this before purchasing. Also check the volume of ink in each cartridge, can you upgrade to an extra large cartridge ( always recommended for more cost effective printing )

If comparing the cost of two different printers, look at both the cartridge replacement cost and the amount of ink in mls in each cartridge.

Does the printer have individual colour ink cartridges?

Multiple ink printers are more economical on ink, ie: Black and three colour cartridges, it means you only have to replace the cartridge that runs out, reducing waste associated with a two cartridge ink printer.

Caution: when one cartridge runs out you must replace it in order for the printer to continue to print, we recommened having a spare set, especially Black as a back up in case you run out in the middle of an important print job.

What functionality do you need?

  • A4 / A3
  • Copy
  • Scan
  • Fax
  • WIFI
  • Duplex ( double sided print )
  • Air Print ( print from smart phones / tablets )
  • Photo printing

Theres no point in paying extra for a printer with functions you don’t need and will never use. Here at Cartridge Plus we try to ascertain the customers usage and requirements before recommending a printer for them.
